James W. Woolf, 91, died Sunday, August 1, 2021 at his home in Titusville, Florida. James was born in Ft. Pierce, FL to Wyvon and Elaine James Woolf on September 9, 1929. James retired as a MSGT E-8 veteran of the US Army where he served as a meteorologist. After retirement he worked at the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks continuing with his work with rockets in studying the atmosphere. He started working at Kennedy Space Center in Florida as a security guard and then took over as the Chief Locksmith, working there for over 25 years. He was also a talented stain glass artist, very involved in genealogy and even wrote his own autobiography. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served in many callings to serve others.
James is survived by his children, Faye-Lyne Bandy, Larry Woolf and his wife Twila, Eric Woolf and his wife Janet, Jason Woolf and his wife Rachel; one grandson, James D. Bandy and four granddaughters, Candace, Summer, Aleia, Mckayla and seven great grandchildren. His wife of 64 years, Barbara King Woolf, son David Woolf, and daughter Jennifer Woolf predeceased him.
A graveside service will be celebrated at 11am Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
