Kenneth Michael Waring, age 79, of Titusville, passed away Sunday, January 22. He was born March 13, 1943 in Miami, Florida to the late Frances and Kenneth Waring.
Michael was a graduate of Coral Gables High School and received a B.A. from the University of Central Florida. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving for 4 years. After his service, the family moved to Titusville where Michael worked for the Titusville Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT for 25 years. He was chosen by the department for special wellness training and worked with the entire department as a Wellness Director. In addition, Michael was selected as 1994 Fireman of the Year for the City of Titusville. After he retired, Michael put his love of golf to use working at his retirement job with the Royal Oak Golf and Country Club. An avid sports fan, when he wasn’t cheering for his Dolphins or Hurricanes, Michael used his free time to impact countless young people with his volunteer work with Titusville Little League - serving as a coach and board member for 16 years.
Michael is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Phillips Waring; sons, James P. Waring (Jennifer) of Poughkeepsie, NY and Steven M. Waring of Port St. John, FL; brother Douglas A. Waring (Peggy) of Homestead, FL. Grandchildren: Victoria, Isabelle, Hudson, and Jackson, all of Poughkeepsie, NY. “Uncle Mikey” will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Heather, Hunter, Jason, T.J., Shawn, Tiffanie, Sara-Allison, David, Sam, Kailey, Landon, Sophia, Alex, Hanna and Taylor.
Arrangements- Graveside service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Ceremony, 5525 US Highway 1, N., Mims, Florida 32754 (321-383-2642) at 10:00am on Thursday, February 2, 2023. Celebration of Life reception will follow at First United Methodist Church, 206 S. Hopkins Avenue (US 1, South), Titusville, Florida 32796.
